The National Logistics Academy was created by Mantra Learning to give you all the training and support you need to get your first job and start an apprenticeship. Once you’re in an apprenticeship you will continue to learn, you will gain qualifications and you will get paid.
We are looking for young people leaving school or college from years 10 to 13 who are looking for their first job or older people up to age 24 who want a change of career.
Pathway to apprenticeship
This Logistics Pathway programmes take around 12 weeks and includes work preparation training, English, maths and IT, plus a vocational skills course. This is followed by 6 weeks or more work experience with a well known, local employer.

At the National Logistics Academy we believe that logistics offers a range of fantastic career opportunities for all sorts of bright young people – whatever their aptitudes or interests. That’s why we have created two different pathways that can lead on to a variety of occupations:
The Logistics Operator pathway
For young people who have a practical leaning and prefer a job that is more hands on we offer the Logistics Operator pathway. This can lead to a variety of occupations such as
- Motor cycle courier driver
- Van driver
- HGV driver
- Motor vehicle mechanic:
- Light motor vehicle mechanic
- Heavy motor vehicle mechanic
- Warehousing and storage:
- Goods receiving and despatch
- Order picker and packer
- Forklift truck operator
The Logistics Business pathway
Those who are more suited to back office or customer facing roles will want to follow the Logistics Business pathway. This will prepare them for a job in:
- Business skills:
- General administration
- IT support
- Customer service:
- Telephone customer service
- Social media
- Transport planning:
- Freight forwarding:
- International logistics and trade operations
Apprenticeships: ages 16 - 24
Apprentices learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, gaining nationally recognised qualiﬁcations and earning money all at the same time.
Employers all over the country recognise and value Apprenticeships as they show that they've been trained in the skills they need. Apprenticeships typically take between one and two years to complete, depending on the type of framework.
Earn while you learn
Apprentices do real jobs for real employers so they are paid while they learn - at least £3.50 per hour.
Mantra offers two levels of Apprenticeship available for those aged 16 and over:
Apprentices work towards a Level 2 work-based learning qualifications, Key Skills and, in some cases, a relevant knowledge-based qualification such as a BTEC. These provide the skills apprentices need for their chosen career and allow entry to an Advanced Apprenticeship.
Advanced apprentices work towards work-based learning qualifications such as NVQ Level 3, Key Skills and, in most cases, a relevant knowledge based certificate such as a BTEC. To start this programme, apprentices should ideally have five GCSEs (grade C or above) or have completed an Intermediate Apprenticeship.
With Mantra you can take an apprenticeship in range of logistics, automotive and business subjects:
- LGV Driver
- Supply Chain Warehouse Operative
- Customer Service Practitioner
- Light/heavy Motor Vehicle Mechanic
- Business Administration
