For every 50 employees it is recommended that there is one
appointed person, working in a low risk environment
The Programme
The Appointed Persons course covers eleven different key areas
of first aid, allowing the learner to have a knowledgeable
understanding of how to deal with different situations.
Benefits to the employer and the learner
Both learner and employer will benefit from a safer working
environment: Learners will be provided with a crucial knowledge of
First Aid which will help them to prevent and rectify accidents.
Employers know that their staff are well prepared for any
eventuality which will ultimately benefit the workforce.
Outcomes
On completion learners will be provided with the Health and
Safety Executive (HSE) Appointed Persons Certificate, which is
valid for 3 years. This will allow the candidate to take the skills
that they have covered at Mantra Learning back to their workforce
and benefit the organisation.
Course design
The course covers:
- Introduction to First Aid
- Managing an incident
- Unconscious casualties
- Health and Safety Regulations
- Airway and breathing
- Breathing for the casualty
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Bleeding from a wound
- Recovery position
- Burns and scolds
- Shock
Assessment
At the end of the course candidates participate in a Q&A
session held by the instructor to test their knowledge before
returning to the work environment.
