The HSE strongly recommends that all first-aiders attend an annual 3-hour refresher course. This includes learners who have taken the 3-day First Aid at Work certificate and the 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work course.
This course will help qualified first-aiders maintain their basic skills and keep up to date with any changes to first aid procedures.
Benefits to employer and employee
Learners will refresh their knowledge of first aid principles and techniques and get the chance to practice their skills in realistic situations on simulated casualties.
On completion of the course the learner will be issued with a certificate of attendance to show they have complied with the HSE's annual refresher recommendation. After three years learners must either retake the Emergency First Aid at Work Course or undergo a 2-day First Aid at Work Re-qualification course to keep their qualification valid.
