The course

All LGV drivers are required by law to complete 35 hours JAUPT approved training every 5 years. Now is the time to act. The later you leave it, the greater the chance of not completing the required training by the September 2014 deadline and risk losing your ability to drive.

Benefits to the employer and the learner

The Mantra Driver CPC programme aims to ensure that both drivers and their employers benefit from safe and efficient working practices as well as improve their fuel efficiency, productivity and profitability.

Outcomes

Existing drivers will get their Driver Qualification Card (DQC) once they have completed their 35 hours periodic training. It is unlawful to drive professionally anywhere in the European Union without a DQC. (Existing drivers can use their vocational driving licence as proof of their Driver CPC, but only until 9th September 2014).

• ADR Certificate - Core, Packages, 7 Classes (3½ days - 21 hours Driver CPC)

What happens if you don't have a Driver Qualification Card card by September 2014?

It will be an offence to drive a vehicle without holding a DQC, or to cause or permit a driver to do so. The driver will also commit an offence if they fail to produce their card at a police/VOSA roadside check. The penalties are:

• Driving without a DQC: £1000 fine
• Causing or permitting the above: £1000 fine
• Failure to carry DQC: On the spot fine
• Forging or falsifying documents: 2 years prison sentence or fine
