Mantra has one-day Driver CPC courses running weekly at Manchester, Stockport and Warrington priced at just £50 plus VAT and £8.75 JAUPT upload fee. Saturday courses are also available at just £60 plus VAT and upload.

The course

All LGV drivers are required by law to complete 35 hours JAUPT approved training every 5 years. Now is the time to act. The later you leave it, the greater the chance of not completing the required training by the September 2014 deadline and risk losing your ability to drive. Many employers are now insisting that any new drivers they take on must be up to date with their Driver CPC.

Benefits to the employer and the learner

The Mantra Driver CPC programme aims to ensure that both drivers and their employers benefit from safe and efficient working practices as well as improve their fuel efficiency, productivity and profitability.

Outcomes

Existing drivers will get their Driver Qualification Card (DQC) once they have completed their 35 hours periodic training. It is unlawful to drive professionally anywhere in the European Union without a DQC. (Existing drivers can use their vocational driving licence as proof of their Driver CPC, but only until 9th September 2014).

New online enquiry service for professional drivers

DSA has developed and launched a new online enquiry service for professional drivers.

The new online driver enquiry service, developed by DSA, has just been launched to allow lorry, bus and coach drivers working towards Driver CPC to go online to check records of the periodic training they've done.

Lorry, bus and coach drivers can access the service 24 hours a day, which provides a clear and simple online record, showing:

• the driver's Driver CPC qualification expiry date (bus and coach and / or lorry)
• details of each training course completed

Drivers can register to use the service at www.direct.gov.uk/checkdrivercpc

What happens if you don't have a Driver Qualification Card card by September 2014?

It will be an offence to drive a vehicle without holding a DQC, or to cause or permit a driver to do so. The driver will also commit an offence if they fail to produce their card at a police/VOSA roadside check. The penalties that apply to both drivers and employers are:

• Driving without a DQC: £1000 fine
• Causing or permitting the above: £1000 fine
• Failure to carry DQC: On the spot fine
• Forging or falsifying documents: 2 years prison sentence or fine

It is a mandatory requirement that you bring with you to the course both parts of your driving licence or if providing an old style driving licence you must provide a valid passport as well.
