The programme
The Level 3 Diploma in Driving Goods Vehicles (QCF) is designed
by Skills for Logistics and covers van, rigid vehicle and
articulated or drawbar vehicle types It requires drivers to
demonstrate competence in not just driving correctly but also,
preparing a vehicle and loading and unloading. It also includes
wider competencies such as building and managing teams and helping
colleagues address problems affecting their performance.
The Level 3 Diploma in Driving Goods Vehicles is a combined
qualification that forms both the competence and knowledge elements
of the Advanced Apprenticeship.
Employer benefits

Outcomes
Drivers will have the highest level of occupational competence
and driving skills as well as additional competencies in leading
teams and managing logistics operations. They will be able to
monitor and manage vehicle movements, optimise the use of
resources, prepare documentation and schedule logistics operations
to meet customer requirements. They will also be able to take
responsibility for health, safety and security in their team.
Funding
Part or full Government funding is
usually available. Employers should also support learners by
providing time for study.
Programme delivery
All Mantra Learning Training Advisors are industry professionals
who are specialists in the area in which they teach and are members
of the Institute for Learning.
Programme design
There are three pathways with appropriate content for the type
of vehicle being driven:
- Vans
- Rigid vehicles
- Articulated or drawbar vehicles

Assessment
The Mantra Learning Advisor will use a range of assessment
methods including observation, question and answer, video,
professional discussion and written reports. Their visits usually
take place once a month with progress assessed and reviewed every
three months or sooner if necessary. We also arrange an Employer
Review every six months to measure the impact on your business.
Opportunities for further development
Learners can progress to:
- Traffic Office Apprenticeship or Level 2 Certificate
- Logistics Operations Advanced Apprenticeship or Level 3
Certificate. This can lead to a Foundation Degree in Logistics
