Introduction
The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence
(Driver CPC) was introduced on 10th September 2009
across the European Union with the aim to improve
road safety and maintain high driving standards. All
professional bus, coach and lorry drivers must hold
a Driver CPC in order to drive for hire and reward.
Who is it for?
Depending on when you gained your vocational
licence, you will get your Driver CPC either through
having passed initial qualification tests (new
drivers) or by 'acquired rights' (existing drivers).
The new Driver CPC legislation effects two areas of
LGV training:

Outcome
The Driver CPC aims to improve road safety by helping
drivers of buses, coaches and lorries maintain and
develop the skills and knowledge they need. Examples of
subjects covered are knowing how to load a vehicle
safely, and how to comply with relevant rules and
regulations surrounding drivers' hours.
