PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
In 2005 Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) The Sector Skills Council for the Learning and Skills Sector was directed by the government to look at introducing new professional standards for the learning and skills sector.
These standards were to be called The Learning and Development Standards.
They were aimed at developing professional qualifications, a career path and wider roles for assessors and verifiers.
These new professional standards for the Learning and Skills Sector would be introduced by 2007.
From September 2007 all new entrants in teaching, training and tutoring in funded post 16 programme areas will have to go down this route.
The five day course (each consecutive Wednesday) will cover the five core outcomes to complete the PTLLS qualification.
1. Understand own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching. 2. Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches in the specialist area.
3. Demonstrate session planning skills.
