Coronavirus safety update
Returning to work and learning safely
Over the last few weeks, we have been carrying out work across our Middleton site to make it safe for staff and learners to return. We have implemented social distancing measures and are continually following government guidelines to ensure that all processes are up-to-date, to best protect learners and staff.
Before arriving on-site, learners will be required to complete a questionnaire, which will be part of their course joining instructions. Guidance on social distancing measures we are taking will also be provided.
Arriving on site
When arriving on-site, you will be directed to sign in at our new reception area, which is located in our Reverse Logistics Training Centre. On entrance, you will be expected to sanitise your hands at one of our sanitising stations (these are now located across all areas of our site) and will be required to pass through one of our temperature detection cameras, which are located in each reception area. Should someone on-site pass through the temperature camera with a high-temperature reading, a member of our health & safety team will address the situation immediately and confidentially.
When on site, following social distancing guidelines will be expected by all. We have reduced classroom sizes and restructured learning areas to maintain social distancing. In addition to this, we have introduced one-way systems and are introducing additional breakout areas, as we start to increase the number of people allowed on site over the coming weeks and months.
Preventing the spread of the coronavirus
To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, we have implemented the following:

Temperature detection cameras in each reception area for staff and learners to check through when arriving on site.

Hand sanitising stations are available in every classroom and walkway.

2 metre social distancing markers, to guide people and remind them to keep apart across the site.

FLT training bays have instructor and learner safety zones.

Classroom sizes have been reduced, with 2+ metre distances between work stations. Each work station is also equipped with sanitising wipes.

The cameras will check your temperature as you walk in through an entrance and report any high temperatures to our head of Health & Safety.

Yellow markers are used in walk-ways and one-way systems are in place across some of our buildings where there are narrow corridors.

Social distancing measures have been outlined in our simulated learning environments.

Office spaces have also been rearranged to provide staff with a safe and clean working environment.
Maintaining a safe working and learning environment
Further work is to be carried out across the site, as the onsite café will be moved from the main building and structural work will be taking place in the coming weeks to manage the flow of people across our estate. We will also provide further updates on the changes we are making to our St Helens and Stockport centres in due course.
We are continuously following the government guidelines and will respond with further updates where appropriate.
