Skills North West key to addressing the skills shortage
Promoting logistics as a career of first choice
Mantra Learning and The National Logistics Academy will be attending Skills North West again this year, which is taking place at Event City, Manchester on the 25th & 26th March. The event is the largest career exhibition in the North West and will be attended by over 2000 young people from schools and colleges across the northern counties.
Mantra and The Academy are committed to "promoting logistics as a career of first choice" and use the event to highlight the scope of opportunities available within logistics, to get young people thinking about a career within the sector. It's a great opportunity for employers to engage with young people too, last year's event was supported by Abbey Logistics and Rock Oil apprentice ambassadors, who shared their career stories with attendees.

Attracting future talent
It is fair to say most young people don't know what logistics is, so Skills North West is the perfect event for Mantra, The Academy and employers to provide young people, careers advisors and parents with insights on exciting opportunities within the sector. With only 9% of the logistics workforce under the age of 25, there's a real need to attract future talent, so why not get involved and support Skills North West?
2020 bigger and better
This year's event will be supported by Think Logistics and Knapp, providing interactive have-a-go activities on the stand using virtual reality and insights to life in logistics. In addition to this, Mantra and the academy want to make the presence of the sector bigger-than-ever with apprentice ambassadors. We want apprentices and former apprentices to attend and share their career stories with attendees over the two days so that we're encouraging more young people to think about a career in logistics! Apprentice ambassadors will be paid to support the event (covering their time and cost away from the job) and they will be provided with further opportunities to complete a case study and promote their company brand.
If you'd like to commit one of your apprentices or former apprentices to support the event on either the 25th or 26th March 2020 (09:00 - 15:00), then please complete the form below or speak to your account manager.
