Women in Logistics - live event 

The logistics sector is one of the largest and most vital sectors in the UK, with 2.5 million workers. However, women are still hugely under-represented in the industry.

  • Out of all the individuals completing technical and engineering transport apprenticeships, just 12% are women.
  • Only 0.5% of HGV drivers in the UK are female.
  • Only 20% of the transport and logistics workforce is female.

There is becoming a greater push for companies to bridge the diversity gap in the logistics sector, increasing the demand for female workers. Furthermore, the pandemic has opened the nations eyes to the importance of the sector across the UK and subsequently, wages and opportunities are rising. There has never been a better time to begin your career in logistics.

Through our live ‘Women in Logistics’ event, Mantra Learning aims to support females to understand the opportunities in the sector, the route for progression and tackle industry misconceptions.

The event will include:

  • Talks from successful industry females including:
  • Sami Bowler – Transport Manager and director of a family run heavy haulage business.

Sami has never known anything other than working in the logistics sector, growing up and working for her family run business.

Sami hopes to act as role model for women who looking to begin a career in logistics and females working in male dominated sectors. Sami has a racing background and believes that women should not be intimidated by participating in male dominated jobs and sport.

  • Jenny Tipping – Experienced Logistician

Jenny is widely experienced in the logistics sector, working in the trucking industry for 15 years. Jenny now develops online courses for women working in male dominated industries and aims to educate individuals about working in these sectors.

  • Keely Hadfield – Forklift Truck Instructor

Keely demonstrates the vast number of opportunities there are for females in the logistics sector. She has recently passed her Forklift Truck Instructor course and came second in the the ‘Talent in Logistics’ competition.
